Family Farm Defenders is urgently seeking <\/span><\/span>nominations and sponsors for the 2016 <\/span><\/span><\/span>John Kinsman Beginning Farmer <\/span>Food Sovereignty Prize!\"JohnsPhotosApril10-045-1400x600\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The criteria to be nominated include:<\/p>\n

Engaged in own farm for less than 5 years\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Small scale livestock and\/or vegetable and\/or fruit production<\/p>\n

Market products locally<\/p>\n

Practice sustainable management of natural resources<\/p>\n

Promote healthy soil<\/p>\n

Conserve biodiversity<\/p>\n

Support food sovereignty principles<\/p>\n

Winners of the prize will be honored at a luncheon banquet in Madison on Sat. March 12th with keynote speaker, John Ikerd, and receive a cash award, as well as travel\/lodging expenses to attend the event.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
